This has nothing to do with my dog, but my dog is really, really, really cute!!!!

From the middle of March to until late October, you can swim in Palmdale.

November through February seemed like they had been an eternity long every time I first dove down to the bottom of my pool at the beginning of each spring.

I am not a water tester or a slow wader. I love to fall in, without knowing what to expect, all at once and feel it engulf me. It might be just cold enough to be a relief from the sun, or enough to make me shudder, or stabbingly cold so that I feels like pins in my arms and legs and ribs.

When I am surrounded by water, the world changes. I am conscious of my skin but only conscious and what I feel through it is more thought than sensation. Sound is slow and trickled, and harmonized with bubbles.

In the water the world changes.

I am strong and light, I can leap an indefinite distance, my thighs are blue and shine, no one sees me clearly, nothing I feel is solid, I may choose to drift with a wave or cut against it, I can drift and feel nothing at all, or a stick may brush my goose bumps and I can let the tickle ring through me and become my every thing of the moment.

In Utah, you can swim outside for a short season.

There are other places the world changes just like this briefly too.
