My little girl held my hand tightly all the way to the school today. A mass of parents stood around with little kids, some were clinging, some were whining, and some playing.
I did ok even when the bell rang. I explained the bell to her and watched her line up. I didn’t break down until I saw her walk through the door. I felt the tears well up. Through them I saw I was the only mommy there crying. The others were pros at this, having done it with older children, or had a few more little ones tucked under each arm.
She is my first and my baby, and I let her go a little today.
It’s not just that I want to hold on. It’s that time is going so fast, and I wish I were doing this better while I have some left.
